Microneedling
Is Microneedling painful?
Microneedling can be mildly uncomfortable, but it is generally not considered painful. The sensation experienced during microneedling is often described as a mild stinging or pricking sensation. However, the level of discomfort can vary depending on factors such as the depth of the needles, the area being treated, and the individual’s pain tolerance. Overall, while some degree of discomfort is common during microneedling, it is usually well-tolerated by most individuals.
What is the downtime for this treatment?
Immediately following the treatment, you will look red, resembling moderate sunburn. The skin will feel warm and slightly tight. This will normally reduce within the same day, with only slight redness the following day. You can return to most normal activities that day.
How long will it take to see results?
The time it takes to see results from microneedling can vary depending on factors such as the depth of the needles, the area being treated, and the individual’s skin type and condition. In general, most people start to see improvements in their skin’s appearance within a few weeks to a few months after starting microneedling. However, it’s important to note that the results of microneedling are gradual and progressive, and optimal results are typically seen after a series of treatments. We recommend repeated treatments every 4-6 weeks.
Am I suitable for Microneedling?
Microneedling is generally considered safe for most people, but there are some contraindications and precautions to consider:
1. Active acne: Microneedling can exacerbate active acne by spreading bacteria and causing further inflammation. It’s generally recommended to avoid microneedling if you have active acne.
2. Inflamed skin: Microneedling can irritate inflamed or sensitive skin, so it’s generally recommended to avoid microneedling if you have inflamed or sensitive skin.
3. Certain skin conditions: Microneedling may not be suitable for people with certain skin conditions, such as rosacea, eczema, or psoriasis, as it can exacerbate these conditions.
4. Recent sunburn: Microneedling can irritate sunburned skin, so it’s generally recommended to avoid microneedling if you have a recent sunburn.
5. Recent facial surgery or procedures: Microneedling can interfere with the healing process after facial surgery or procedures.
6. Microneedling is not recommended if you are pregnant and breastfeeding.
7. Wait 4 weeks after a chemical peel before having a Microneedling treatment.
8. It is advisable to wait 2 weeks after Botox or Dermal Fillers before having a microneedling treatment.
